LASEMA Recovers Three Bodies, Rescues Nine in Ikorodu Building Collapse

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) have recovered three bodies from the rubble of a collapsed two-storey building in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). He stated that the victims were trapped under the debris when the building, still under construction, collapsed on Tuesday.

LASEMA’s Pre-Hospital Care Unit successfully rescued nine adult males from the site and provided them with immediate medical attention.

After receiving distress alerts at 2:02 p.m., LASEMA activated emergency response teams from Agbowa and Alausa. The teams arrived at the scene by 2:40 p.m. and began search and rescue operations, which remain ongoing.

Officials handed over the recovered bodies to the Igbogbo Police Station. Meanwhile, authorities have cordoned off the area and put safety protocols in place.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted that investigators have yet to determine the cause of the collapse.
